David

David has an indomitable spirit, and he’s needed it. He spent most of his life in a state institution, sharing a bedroom, eating in a dining hall and participating in set activities. All that changed when he moved into one of UCP Seguin’s homes integrated into the community. Finally, he has his own room to decorate as he pleases. He helps plan what he wants to eat and what he wants to do. He goes shopping with money from his job at Portillo’s Learning Kitchen. And for the first time in years, he’s taken up fishing, something he enjoyed doing with his father long ago. For David, the road to a happy, fulfilling life was far from easy. But now he’s finally home.
